CORPORATE HEADSHOTS FAQ

A few things you may want to know.

Practical advice about preparing for your corporate headshots, what to wear, what happens on the day, and what to expect afterwards.

What should I wear for my corporate headshot?

Wear what you would normally wear when presenting yourself professionally to a client or colleague.

Simple, well-fitting clothing generally photographs best. Avoid strong patterns or anything that may distract from your face. White jackets can sometimes be difficult against lighter backgrounds, although this depends on the look we’re creating.

Most importantly, wear something you feel comfortable and confident in.

Should I wear a tie?

If you’re wearing a suit, I generally recommend wearing a tie. A suit without a tie can look unfinished in a professional portrait.

That doesn’t mean you need to wear a tie around the office every day. A corporate portrait is about how you choose to present yourself professionally. It’s usually better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed.

If you’re unsure, bring a tie. We can always photograph you both ways.

Should I wear glasses?

If you normally wear glasses, wear them.

We can usually manage reflections through careful lighting and positioning. There’s no reason to remove your glasses simply for the photograph if they’re part of how people normally see you.

Should I have professional hair and makeup?

It’s entirely optional.

For larger shoots or executive portraits, professional hair and makeup can be worthwhile, particularly when you want a more polished result. We can recommend a professional makeup artist if required.

For most people, simply arrive as you would when preparing for an important business meeting.

How much space do you need?

We don’t need a huge amount of room. A meeting room designed for around six people is generally sufficient for a corporate headshot setup.

Ideally, the room won’t have low or hanging lights that restrict where we can position our lighting. If you’re unsure whether a particular room will work, just ask.

How long does it take to set up?

Allow approximately 30 minutes for setup and a similar amount of time for pack-down.

We organise everything so that once we’re ready, your team can move through the photography efficiently without unnecessarily disrupting their working day.

How long does each person take?

Usually around 5–10 minutes per person for corporate headshots.

We don’t want to rush people, but we also understand that your team has work to do. The aim is to make the experience relaxed and efficient.

Can you photograph our team at our office?

Yes. Most team photography can be done at your workplace.

We bring what we need to create a professional, consistent result at your location, which means your people don’t need to leave the office and travel to a photography studio.

Sydney CBD appointments are also available for individuals and smaller requirements.

Can you match our existing corporate headshots?

In many cases, yes.

If you already have an established photographic style, we can look at the lighting, background, composition and image finishing and reproduce it as closely as practical.

This is particularly useful when a new employee joins and needs a portrait that sits naturally alongside the rest of the team.

What happens when new employees join later?

You don’t need to photograph the entire team again.

We can photograph new starters using the established style so your corporate portraits remain consistent as your organisation changes.

How do we choose our photographs?

After the shoot, we send you low-resolution proofs so you can choose your preferred images.

Once you’ve made your selections, those photographs are professionally finished and supplied in both high-resolution and web-ready formats.

Do you retouch the photographs?

Yes, but our approach is deliberately natural.

Selected photographs receive light professional retouching and image finishing. The aim is to present people at their best without making them look artificial or overly retouched.

You should still look like you.

How quickly will we receive the finished photographs?

Finished images are usually supplied within 24 hours of receiving your selections.

Larger projects or particularly large selections may require a little longer. If you have a specific deadline, let us know when organising the photography.

Can you photograph teams in different Australian cities?

Yes. We undertake national corporate photography projects and can create a consistent photographic approach across multiple offices and locations.

For organisations without suitable office space in a particular city, we can also arrange appropriate professional meeting-room locations.

Where do you provide corporate photography?

We photograph at workplaces throughout Sydney and can undertake corporate photography projects across Australia. For individuals and small teams who don’t have a suitable space at their workplace, corporate headshot appointments are also available at Customs House in the Sydney CBD.

Contact us to discuss your location and requirements, and we can recommend the most practical option.

How many people can you photograph in a day?

For larger teams, we work with you to plan a practical schedule that keeps people moving efficiently while maintaining a consistent photographic style throughout the day. If your organisation has people across multiple offices or locations, we can also coordinate photography over several days or across Australia.

Contact us to discuss your team size and requirements, and we can recommend the most practical approach.

What if the whole team isn’t available on the day?

For larger teams, we can plan photography over two days from the outset, giving people more flexibility to attend and allowing for staff who may be away or unavailable on one of the days. We can also reproduce the same photographic style at a later date for new employees, helping maintain a consistent look as your team changes.

Contact us to discuss your team and availability, and we can plan the photography around your organisation.

Why not just use AI for our corporate headshots?

If you’re making the effort to show the real people behind your business, it makes sense to actually show the real people.

AI-generated headshots may look polished, but they’re still artificial representations of your team. Genuine corporate photography gives clients, colleagues and prospective employees an authentic picture of the people they’re dealing with.

AI has its place. But when the purpose of the photograph is to introduce you, I believe it should actually be you.
